History

2022 marks our 50th year in business.   Our custom apparel subsidiary, Carlson Murray, has roots in Chicago dating back more than 100 years.   Former Chicago Mayor Harold Washington recognized us for our longevity and business contributions to the city.  Over all of these years, we’ve witnessed many of our customers begin their careers and ride off into retirement.  

VCG Uniform was founded by Vincent C. Gerage Jr, the adopted son of Vincent C. Gerage Sr. a first generation Italian immigrant.  Vince's philosophy was to differentiate his company through personal service. He recognized that every customer has unique needs and every detail is important.  Although Vince’s passing was quite some time ago, we strive to uphold his vision every day.

The average employee at VCG Uniform has over 15 years of experience.  We look forward to sharing this experience and expertise with you.   You can count on us to help create exactly what you or your organization needs.  One of the benefits of this experience is that we know what works and what doesn’t.  If a product or manufacturer doesn’t stand up, you won’t find it here.  The products in our portfolio have been thoroughly tested and are covered by our return guarantee and/or the manufacturers’ warranty.  Since we are independent, we are not restricted to certain brands.  Our loyalty is with you. 

In addition to our products, we are very confident that you will find our tailoring services extraordinary. With speed, care and creativity, we promise you will be impressed. 

Note that we also offer full embroidery services on-site.  There is no need to wait weeks for embroidery.  In most cases, we can care for your needs while you wait.

Location & Hours
Our retail store is located at 5050 West Irving Park Rd in Chicago, on the north side of Irving park just a bit west of Chicago’s six corner intersection (Milwaukee, Irving and Cicero).  We have ample parking in the rear of the building and it shouldn’t be difficult to find parking in front of the building.  From the Kennedy expressway, aka I90, exit on Irving Park west and continue for about one mile. 

Hours: We are open Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.   Saturdays 9am to 1pm.  Closed on Sundays.

We'll try to accommodate you if you are running late.  Just give us a call and let us know.

Evolution

Behind these overview web pages is a fully functional ecommerce store which is now available to use for registered users/organizations. This ordering platform was developed by listening to the needs of our customers. We continue to work on the product portfolio before we offer that to the public.
